San Ramon, CA – July 10, 2001 – Engineer-to-order, build-to-order, discrete manufacturing, and maintenance organization users of Relevant’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) can now assure only authorized parts and components are issued for serial numbered products. The aircraft/aerospace industry uses the term “tail effectivity” to describe this capability. During an issue or shipment, Relevant checks to see if an item can be used in a specific machine or aircraft.

Within Relevant, a table carries information on each serial or tail number for each item used, including the original date the serial or tail number was added, received or stocked, as well as item information, such as the original vendor lot number, inventory quantities, weighted average costs, and the last inventory adjustment date. An inquiry screen quickly provides a view of this information. Relevant checks with this table to determine if the issue or shipment of that item is allowed with a specific serial or tail number.
