Intuitive Acquires Relevant
Second acquisition this year expands
industry coverage with project-driven functionality
Kirkland, Washington – April 4, 2006 –
Intuitive Manufacturing Systems, a leading provider of
enterprise resource planning (ERP) software for discrete
manufacturers, and Marlin Equity Partners announced today they have acquired Relevant
Business Systems. Relevant is an established enterprise
application vendor based in San Ramon, CA, specializing in
project-driven ERP and is best known for its solutions for the
Aerospace and Defense (A&D) industry.
“Relevant fits nicely into the continuation
of our strategic growth plan for 2006. We are now able to better
service the A&D market, and can also address the needs of
project-driven manufacturers in other industries,” said

ERP market is already strong and quickly expanding. The A&D
vertical is a subset of that growing market where Relevant holds
some unique competitive advantages, especially with government

In addition to expanding into key
industries, by acquiring Relevant, Intuitive now provides a
solution for all three types of supply chain models. “In the
past, we have supplied solutions for make-to-stock and
configure-to-order supply chains. Now, Intuitive will be
addressing the needs of the third, those that are
project-driven,” Gillam said. “This is important because many
mid-market manufacturers have a hybrid business model and must
excel at two or more of these models.”
Intuitive Growth Strategy
Relevant is the second acquisition this year for Intuitive,
following the acquisition of SupplyWorks in March. “Both
acquisitions are part of our strategic growth plan,” said
Gillam. “Since the acquisition of Intuitive by Marlin Equity
Partners in October 2005, we have been investing in sales and
marketing, enhancing Intuitive ERP, and offering new technology
solutions, such as SupplyWorks. The next logical step in our
development is to add industry-specific functionality, such as
Relevant.”
Intuitive’s long-term product plan is to
adapt Relevant’s project-driven processes and functionality to
the Intuitive ERP product. Intuitive will offer continued
support to Relevant’s customers and deliver
several enhancements under development.
